About Dr Poonam from Eveda
Dr Poonam is an Ayurveda consultant and gastro specialist. She qualified as an Ayurveda Consultant in India in 2001, with a bachelor’s degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS). As well as Ayurveda, her training included the study of Western medicine.
Dr Poonam has a postgraduate diploma in dietetics and in 2005 graduated with a master’s degree in dietetics from the University of Glasgow.
Since qualifying, Dr Poonam has built up extensive experience as an Ayurveda consultant and specialist dietitian, combining traditional and Western science to help treat the most complex conditions in the most holistic way. Before establishing her private clinic at Dr Ashok’s, Dr Poonam worked in the NHS for 11 years as a specialist gastroenterology dietitian.
Dr Poonam specializes in nutritional gastroenterology and has a particular interest in various conditions including: irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease, colitis, functional gut disorders, coeliac disease and food intolerances.
As well as providing medical treatment, Dr Poonam provides specialist, evidence-based and personalised dietary advice and written resources to help her patients manage their conditions themselves. She is well trained in both Asian and Western foods and so is able to give her patients the best guidance and advice from both traditional and Western food cultures.
